Gianluca Scamacca always waiting for news as he looks to exit West Ham United
West Ham striker Gianluca Scamacca is always waiting for news ahead of a potential move to Roma, who hope to make a move as soon as possible, according to Corriere Dello Sport [5 July, page 14].
Scamacca has been heavily linked to a move away from the London Stadium this summer, with Roma seemingly the front runners for his signature. Jose Mourinho wishes to have the deal done as soon as possible to prepare for the new season, with Scamacca “always waiting” for news.
The Italian striker has already agreed on personal terms and wishes to return to his home town club and play under Mourinho after a difficult season in England.

West Ham are trying to negotiate an obligation to buy into any loan deal, as they look to make back some of the £30.8million they spent on Scamacca just last season, which is slowing the deal down.
A clean break would be better for all parties
The longer this deal drags on, the more frustration grows. Scamacca wants to leave, West Ham want to sell, and Roma want to bring him in. It is better for all parties that a deal is reached as soon as possible so that they can all move on to other business.

Having said that, West Ham won’t agree to a deal that doesn’t suit them. The club aren’t desperate for money after receiving over £100million for Declan Rice and are within their rights to try to cut their losses on Scamacca.
It is expected that a deal will eventually be reached between the clubs, with both managers pushing for it to go through, and a happy medium could be reached with regard to an option to buy.
Scamacca managed just three goals in 16 league appearances for the Hammers in a season blighted by injury, but his 16 goals from 36 games in Serie A with Sassuolo will be encouraging for Roma, whose strikers Tammy Abraham and Andrea Belotti managed just seven between them last season.
In other West Ham news, the agent of new Spurs signing has revealed West Ham were also interested.
