Gary O’Neil makes Wolves exit decision on Sasa Kalajdzic amid West Ham United transfer development
Gary O’Neil is open to offloading Wolves forward Sasa Kalajdzic in the upcoming January transfer window amid interest from West Ham, according to The Sunday People.
The newspaper reported on page 57 of its print edition on 31 December that the Hammers are monitoring the 26-year-old’s situation alongside Premier League rivals Fulham and Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt.
It added that the Austrian international wants to earn more game time ahead of the 2024 European Championships, with Wolves boss O’Neil prepared to let him leave if a replacement can be found.

Not good enough
This isn’t a report that will particularly excite the West Ham fans as Kalajdzic has been largely underwhelming since signing for Wolves from Stuttgart in 2022.
The forward missed pretty much his entire first season in the Premier League after picking up a cruciate ligament injury on his debut.
He’s been a bit-part player under O’Neil so far during this campaign, having scored two goals in his 11 league appearances, with just one of those coming as a starter [Transfermarkt].

The fact of the matter is, if he isn’t good enough for the Midlands club, then what is there to suggest that he is the right man to come in and strengthen our attacking options?
While getting a proven goalscorer through the door in January will be tough, we need to aim a little bit higher if we’re serious about progressing forward and ensuring this is another successful season.
