Galatasaray update emerges in West Ham United transfer race for Scott McTominay

West Ham United and Galatasaray have entered a transfer race for Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay, according to Yeni Akit.

The Turkish outlet reported on its website on Sunday (14 July) that the Hammers have moved to try and sign the Scottish international this summer who has been placed on the Red Devil’s transfer list.

Julen Lopetegui’s side are eager to use the 27-year-old alongside Edson Alvarez in midfield next season and it remains to be seen whether or not Galatasaray will try and beat them to his signature.

The Hammers and the Turkish giants have already rivalled one another for the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer and that is set to escalate as they battle to try and sign McTominay.

Will Scott McTominay exit Manchester United amid West Ham United transfer update?

At this moment in time, it feels as though attacking reinforcements will be top of West Ham’s agenda this summer as Lopetegui knows that he simply has to sign a new number nine to begin climbing up the Premier League table.

But if a deal can be struck for McTominay in the coming weeks, he could represent an excellent addition to the Hammers midfield and add a different dimension to the squad given his versatility and adaptability.

David Moyes was keen to bring the Scotsman to the London Stadium last summer but the Irons weren’t able to agree a deal with the Red Devils. Maybe this year will be different and the Hammers will finally get their man.

On the face of it, a move to East London feels like a more attractive option for the midfielder than a move to Galatasaray, but the Turkish giants can offer European football which may sway McTominay in their direction.

Hopefully, the Hammers will win this race if their interest is genuine. As long as United are willing to sell the midfielder for a reasonable price, this could well be a transfer worth pursuing.
