Galatasaray make last-minute Emerson transfer call in West Ham United exit update
Galatasaray have added West Ham United defender Emerson to their list of last-minute transfer targets, according to Sabah.
The Turkish outlet reported on its website on Tuesday (10 September) that the European club are already considering making contact with the Italian as they look to bolster their left-back options this season.
Julen Lopetegui’s side are expected to value the 30-year-old in the region of £10.1million [€12million] with his contract at the London Stadium due to expire in the summer of 2026.
It is unclear whether or not the Irons would be open to the defender’s departure before the Turkish transfer window slams shut on Friday (13 September).
Will Emerson exit West Ham amid Galatasaray transfer rumours?
Emerson may not have had the most breath-taking start to the season, but he is a key player in Julen Lopetegui’s side and it would be a massive blow to the Hammers if they were to lose a regular starter at this stage of the summer.
West Ham aren’t exactly blessed with defensive depth this season and it would certainly be a strange decision if they allowed a regular starter to depart at a time where they couldn’t make a new signing themselves.
Behind the Italian, the only real alternative natural left back at Lopetegui’s disposal is Aaron Cresswell.
Although the Englishman is a popular figure, he hasn’t been a regular starter in the Premier League for several years now and at 34, there is an acceptance that his best days may well be behind him.

Of course, if Galatasaray were to make an offer that the Irons simply couldn’t refuse, they may well be willing to cash in on a player who is in the final two years of his contract, but it would have to be a big-money proposal.
Hopefully, the Hammers will manage to slave off any last-minute offers that arrive at the London Stadium in the final days of the Turkish transfer window. If they don’t, you’d have to imagine that they’ll be in the market for a free agent or two.
