‘Furious’ West Ham United transfer prediction shared on talkSPORT after Jim White update on David Sullivan

Simon Jordan and Jim White have reacted live on talkSPORT amid news that West Ham have turned down a second bid from Arsenal for their captain Declan Rice, as reported by The Guardian.

It was reported on 20 June that the most recent bid was worth £75million with £15million in add-ons, however, the Hammers have reportedly set a minimum £100million price tag as they await Manchester City to join the race.

And Jordan and White have had their say on the news on talkSPORT as the transfer saga continues to drag on.

West Ham

“I think (David) Sullivan said some weeks ago Simon, £120(million) plus add-ons. It is a waiting game, but he might get it,” White said live on talkSPORT (20 June).

“If he has got competitive tension in the marketplace,” Jordan responded

“If only one club comes to the table and offers £80million, that’s the end of the discussion, isn’t it? He’s got two choices then, take it or not sell him. If there is a big auction, if they’re able to engineer and whip people up into a furious bidding war, then they will be the beneficiaries of it.”

Waiting game

Jordan is spot-on that without the involvement of other clubs, Sullivan has very little power. Arsenal are seemingly confident that they can land their target as they have now offered yet another bid which is below West Ham’s valuation.

Sullivan is clearly holding out for a bidding war as they await the arrival of Manchester City in order to make sure they secure the best financial package possible. There is very little risk of waiting and the club have plenty of time, if Manchester City does not arrive with an offer, they know they have £90million on the table already.

If they do wait and another club, whether that be City or not, does arrive, then as Jordan said, a bidding war will only be of benefit to West Ham.

This is a transfer saga which is not likely to get sorted just yet as all clubs involved continue to wait for their moment.
