Fullkrug exit: Senior officials want to sign West Ham star – Sky Sports

West Ham United ace Niclas Fullkrug is being “closely monitored” by Eintracht Frankfurt officials, according to Sky Sports Germany.

The online outlet reported via their website (9 January) that if Omar Marmoush exits the Bundesliga outfit this winter, Fullkrug is among their list of candidates to replace him.

However, the report adds that if a move for Fullkrug isn’t sanctioned in January the striker will “remain an issue” for the upcoming summer transfer window.

West Ham could do with allowing Niclas Fullkrug to exit

Now that Graham Potter has officially been announced in his new role as West Ham head coach, it’s likely that he’ll have a few ideas about where he wants to take the team and what he wants to achieve.

Fullkrug, who is close to West Ham technical director Tim Steidten, has spent a long time on the sidelines injured since joining from Borussia Dortmund but, even though his chances in the squad have been few and far between, it just feels like he isn’t quite cut out for Premier League football.

He may be physically strong and have a keen eye for goal but with his lack of pace fairly evident in the games he’s appeared in this season, it feels like his style of play won’t work in England’s top flight.

Although the Hammers won’t get the full amount they spent on the former Dortmund attacker back, the amount they do receive could be used to strengthen West Ham’s ranks across the board and improve their chances of finishing in a European place this term.

And the exit of the German could open up a spot in their attacking line for someone such as Crysencio Summerville.
