Fullkrug exit on cards at West Ham United in Manchester City transfer twist
Eintracht Frankfurt are monitoring the developments of West Ham United forward Niclas Fullkrug, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Sky Sports Germany journalist reported via X (9 January) that the Bundesliga outfit will move for the German international should Omar Marmoush complete a move to Manchester City this month.
While new Hammers boss Graham Potter is believed to be against allowing the forward to leave in January [TEAMtalk], the decision may be taken out of his hands with Fullkrug’s father already laying the groundwork for a potential departure.
Niclas Fullkrug could leave West Ham United
While Julen Lopetegui will be remembered for many things during his short-lived spell at West Ham (none positive), Tim Steidten’s decision to sign Fullkrug could be seen as his biggest regret.
The 31-year-old arrived in East London with high hopes after helping Borussia Dortmund reach the Champions League final last season and impressing on Euro 2024 duty with Germany.
However, Fullkrug has managed two goals in nine Premier League outings for the Hammers and has spent most of his time in England on the treatment table.
Potter should be allowed the time to run the rule over his inherited squad before making any transfer-related decisions, but now is the perfect time to cut his losses on Fullkrug even though Eintracht Frankfurt are prepared to wait until the summer.
Although the options across the forward line are wearing thin with Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen long-term absentees, the German has done little to prove he should be the focal point of the attack.

As per Plettenberg (9 January), personal terms between Marmoush and Manchester City have been agreed upon, and it appears that it will only be a matter of time before Eintracht Frankfurt receives a sizeable lump sum to make their move.
Whether or not Fullkrug joins Lopetegui in ending his short tenure in East London remains to be seen, but should West Ham be able to recoup most of the £27 million spent on his services, Potter would be a fool not to consider it.
