Fullkrug dealbrokers to start sweating at West Ham amid pressure

West Ham dealbrokers who sanctioned Niclas Fullkrug’s signing will be sweating as he continues to disappoint at the London Stadium, according to The Telegraph.

Matt Law, reporting via the newspaper’s website on Saturday (21 December), pointed out that the Irons wanted to sign Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran in the summer after the Germany international failed to impress in the 1-1 draw against Brighton.

With question marks over how he was deemed as the ideal alternative to Duran, owner David Sullivan, who was spotted on a call immediately after the 31-year-old was substituted on Saturday, has been mooted to demand answers to why a deal was agreed in the first place.

David Sullivan to question Tim Steidten over Fullkrug deal at West Ham

The Hammers shelled out £27million – a significant figure by all means – to acquire Fullkrug’s services from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

While the figure is already steep for a striker turning 32 in February, the East London outfit are yet to get value for it, with the player spending most of the first half of the season on the treatment table.

Technical director Tim Steidten was the driving force behind his signing and it would not be a surprise if Sullivan had a word with him regarding the same.

With Michail Antonio and Danny Ings managing just two league goals between, there was hope that the former Borussia Dortmund could give Julen Lopetegui’s side a much-needed boost in attack.

However, his performance against Brighton at the London Stadium left much to be desired and raised serious question marks over his future at the club.

There are suggestions that Fullkrug himself is “very upset” with his situation at West Ham [Christian Falk], meaning a departure could be on the cards.

It is shocking that the Irons are facing the prospect of suffering losses on a player they signed less than six months ago.

In other West Ham news, this player is ready to accept a pay cut to finalise his Hammers transfer.
