Freddie Potts faces West Ham exit as 'interesting' deal already mooted
Freddie Potts could be on his way out of West Ham United this summer.
The 22-year-old returned to the London Stadium ahead of the last campaign after a superb year at Portsmouth.
His loan switch to the Championship allowed him to show his best form as John Mousinho's side avoided relegation.
There was an expectation that the Englishman would go on to play a useful role in the Hammers' squad as he built up Premier League experience.
There were some positive signs, but for the most part, he struggled to impose himself in East London.
It now looks as if new midfield options are on Nuno Espirito Santo's shopping list, leaving Potts with an uncertain future with the Irons.
West Ham interested in Bobby Clark after Derby County loan
It appears that the middle of the park is somewhere that the Portuguese head coach wants to improve.
There were many options utilised throughout last campaign, but there weren't many top performers outside of Mateus Fernandes.
The former Southampton man looks to be on his way out, so a new option will be necessary.
Many links have already emerged with RB Salzburg man Bobby Clark now linked with a London Stadium switch.
ExWHUEmployee reported on Sunday that the 21-year-old is "an interesting option" after a spell on loan at Derby County.
He would be available for "a reasonable price" from the Austrian outfit and could certainly be handy for the Irons moving into the second tier.
As useful as he could prove to be, it may not spell good news for Potts moving into a season in the Championship.
Could Freddie Potts force London Stadium exit?
There will be a feeling from the Rush Green academy product that relegation is a perfect career opportunity.
Given that he already has experience in the second tier, it would make sense to utilise that in East London.
He may see a better chance emerge elsewhere in the Championship if the Hammers seek out other options.
Considering the fact that he only made 25 appearances all season, with just four coming from March onwards, he will be keen to be a regular next time around.
Should Clark or any other midfield options come in over the summer, he may be better off getting that elsewhere.
