Flamengo to make new bid for West Ham United ace Lucas Paqueta

Flamengo are determined to sign Lucas Paquetá from West Ham with the club now preparing to make a new bid, according to O Dia.

The Brazilian newspaper reported in their printed edition on Thursday (July 18, page 15) that despite having their initial offer of around £13million turned down, Flamengo plan to make another bid once Paquetá returns from holiday.

O Dia added that the Hammers would want to recoup more of the £50m they spent on the attacking midfielder two years ago and that the club would rely on Paqueta himself softening their stance if they are to strike a deal.

The Brazil international is facing four FA charges. Paqueta has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

It was reported by the Times on Wednesday (17 July) that Paqueta’s lawyers have been granted an extension for their defence, meaning he could be available for most, if not all, of next season.

Flamengo have been attempting to bring Paqueta back to Brazil but there has been no real indication that the Hammers would sanction an exit – certainly not at a cut-price rate.

As things stand, Paqueta will be in a Claret and Blue shirt by the time the Premier League resumes next month, which would be welcome news for new boss Julen Lopetegui.

Hammers fans will hope he can continue the fruitful triumvirate he formed with Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen last season.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers have been offered £13million for Lucas Paqueta, with officials jetting in.
