Flamengo manager Tite speaks out over West Ham United advanced talks to sign Fabricio Bruno
Flamengo boss Tite has suggested that the club are keen to keep hold of Fabricio Bruno as he is linked with a move to West Ham United.
As per Fabrizio Romano via X (22 May), the Hammers are in advanced talks to sign Bruno.
The Brazilian has already accepted the move with Tim Steidten working on the deal as talks progress.
However, Tite appears to have poured cold water over a potential deal, saying (via Coluna do Fla on X, 23 May), “He’s (Bruno) a great player, he’s with us and we want to stay with him in our work, in our daily lives.”
West Ham United will still be confident of signing Bruno from Flamengo
It appears as if the Hammers are wasting no time pressing ahead with their summer business.
This is set to be a busy summer at the London Stadium with soon-to-be West Ham boss Julen Lopetegui likely keen to make his mark quickly.
Steidten will take a bigger role in transfer negotiations this summer, and he will be desperate to provide Lopetegui with the tools he needs.
While Tite has suggested that Flamengo would like to keep hold of Bruno, West Ham fans would be wise to not read too much into this.
As long as Bruno is still a Flamengo player, his manager is going to fight to keep him.
Coming out and publically suggesting that they’re happy to let the player go would not help the club in any negotiations.
Whether or not Flamengo want to keep Bruno, the Hammers should still be confident of getting a deal done.
In other West Ham news, the club want to sign a German player as part of an “insane” transfer.
