Fikayo Tomori exit update emerges as West Ham United want to sign Serie A defender

Fikayo Tomori’s departure from AC Milan could be “inevitable” amid interest from West Ham, according to MilanLive.

The online source reported [11 October] that the defender is under pressure due to recent mistakes and Milan could decide to sell him next summer, with the player valued at £25.1million (€30million).

It is understood that the Hammers are not the only team interested in the 26-year-old, with Newcastle United, Fulham and Aston Villa all keeping tabs on him. The next few months are said to be decisive.

The Hammers were said to have held talks with the Serie A side over Tomori during the most recent summer transfer window [HITC, 22 July], though a move never came to fruition.

West Ham United to sign Fikayo Tomori?

While Julen Lopetegui now has Max Kilman, Jean-Clair Todibo and Konstantinos Mavropanos at his disposal, it would be difficult to turn down an opportunity to sign the former Chelsea man.

The Hammers have a great history with the Blues, having signed both Kurt Zouma and Emerson over the last few seasons, and Tomori would add even more experience than the defensive duo.

It is clear adding another centre-back has been a key next step for the new manager, having targeted multiple free agents over the past few weeks, but nothing has worked out for the London club as of yet.

The Irons would have to wait until next summer and splash money on the player, but the 26-year-old centre-half has Champions League and Europa League games under his belt.

He is also a player on the verge of the England squad, with many fans calling for him to be involved on a regular basis, so West Ham would be silly to ignore the player’s current situation in Italy.
