Fenerbahce stance on Tomas Soucek transfer emerges after West Ham United exit update

Fenerbache will find it difficult to afford a deal to sign West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek ahead of the transfer deadline, according to Give Me Sport.

The outlet reported on Monday (5 August) that while the European club have shown ambition under Jose Mourinho they would struggle to pay a “lucrative” fee to prize the Czech international out of East London.

Soucek still has three years left on his £90,000-a-week contract and that means Julen Lopetegui’s side are under no pressure to drop the asking price for the 29-year-old before the end of the transfer window.

Reports had suggested Fenerbache had been offered Soucek this summer as he is facing the prospect of reduced minutes with the Hammers as they close in on the signing of Guido Rodriguez [Fanatik, 4 August].

Will Tomas Soucek exit West Ham United amid Fenerbache transfer speculation?

West Ham hold all the cards when it comes to Soucek’s future and while it isn’t yet clear whether or not he will exit the London Stadium, the Irons are in a much better position than Fenerbache at this stage of the summer.

If the Czech international remains in East London, Lopetegui will have a reliable and hard-working midfielder to call upon, whether that be in a starting role or from the bench given the recent revamp.

Should Soucek decide he wants to pursue his career elsewhere so that he can play week in and week out, the Hammers will be able to negotiate a reasonable transfer fee that suits them and bolsters their budget for the future.

Nothing is set in stone at this moment in time, but either way, you’d imagine Lopetegui and Steidten will be happy with whatever happens by the time the transfer window slams shut at the end of August.

It will be interesting to see whether any other club enter the race for the 29-year-old now that the Fenerbahce interest has been made public.

A bidding war for Soucek would likely be the ideal outcome for the Irons.
