Federico Gatti reps in talks with Juventus chiefs in West Ham transfer latest

West Ham United are still in the race for Juventus centre-back Federico Gatti ahead of the summer transfer window.

Gatti is expected to leave Juventus in the summer, and the Hammers are among a number of teams keeping tabs on the situation.

Fellow Premier League relegation strugglers Nottingham Forest are also keen, as are French side Olympique Lyon.

West Ham have been long-time admirers of Gatti, with their interest in him stretching back to 2023, but they could finally land their man this summer.

Federico Gatti in talks over Juventus exit

It was revealed last week that Juventus will look to sell Gatti in the summer, and that West Ham are considering a pursuit of the defender.

Now, according to TuttoSport, both Gatti’s representatives and Juve are in exploratory talks with interested parties.

The 27-year-old would reportedly cost around £20million, having made just 12 Serie A appearances for the Old Lady so far this season.

Federico Gatti stats

Gatti started the campaign as a regular starter, but following the appointment of Luciano Spalletti at the end of October, he has plummeted down the pecking order.

Juventus currently sit fifth in Serie A, just a single point behind fourth placed Roma who occupy the final Champions League spot.

West Ham’s Gatti pursuit hinges on one thing

Despite seemingly holding a strong interest in Gatti, West Ham will only be able to get the deal over the line next summer if they avoid relegation from the Premier League.

The Hammers are currently in the drop zone, three points adrift of 17th placed Nottingham Forest.

However, Nuno’s side have been on a superb recent run of form, picking up three wins and a draw from their last five Premier League games.

West Ham table

Not only have the results improved, but the performance levels have increased as well, and Nuno has finally got his squad playing some good football.

The Hammers take on Bournemouth at London Stadium on Saturday, in what is another crucial game in their survival bid.

West Ham fans will be hoping their side can continue their good form, and maybe even jump out of the relegation zone with a win.
