Federico Chiesa namechecked as West Ham United eye Juventus gem
Juventus sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli should be “allowed to cook” amid ongoing talk regarding Matias Soule and a possible move to West Ham United, according to Edoardo Mecca.
The Italian journalist reported via X on 16 July that there is nothing concrete to the ongoing speculation regarding Soule, who is also a target for Leicester City.
Mecca also referenced the intense talk regarding Federico Chiesa and a possible Juve exit this summer.
“In recent days, Chiesa has been placed in ten different possible exchanges and Soule goes one day to Roma, one to Leicester and one to West Ham,” Mecca said.
“There is simply no news. Let Giuntoli cook.”
West Ham United should make a bid for Matias Soule this summer
Of all the attacking talents that the London-based club have been linked with this summer, West Ham fans would no doubt be the most excited about the prospect of Soule coming to the London Stadium.
The Juventus ace is a versatile player that can be deployed anywhere across the front three if needed.
His natural position is right-wing so either Soule or Jarrod Bowen would have to make the sacrifice and get deployed in a more central role.
Although this wouldn’t be much of a problem for either player due to their clinical finishing ability, they’d no doubt prefer to be used in their natural role.
Despite the form of Bowen, Julen Lopetegui’s strikers are in dire need of upgrades, with both Danny Ings and Michail Antonio failing to hit double figures for goals in all competitions last season.
Players such as Dominic Calvert-Lewin [Sky Sports, 15 July] and Ivan Toney have both been linked with West Ham in order to replace the aforementioned pair.
But in reality, there’s no contest between who the Hammers should go for if it comes down to making a choice between Soule and Calvert-Lewin, as the younger more versatile Argentina international is always more likely to win.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are also readying themselves for the transfer of a Serie A centre-back.
