West Ham United attacker Favour Fawunmi heads to QPR as official announcement made
By Harry Mail
West Ham attacker Favour Fawunmi is on trial at QPR, as confirmed on the West London club’s official Academy account on X.
The 17-year-old featured for the Hoops’ Development Squad game against Watford on Tuesday [13 February].
Fawunmi couldn’t prevent the Rs from losing 1-0 after Michael Adu-Poku’s first-half goal for the Hornets.
The teenager has been described as a “livewire” by the Hammers’ official club website [22 May] and can play on either flank.
West Ham sensation Favour Fawunmi eyed by QPR
Fawunmi is under contract at West Ham until the end of this season and is due to become available in June.
The fact that they have let him join QPR on a temporary basis suggests that he is likely to cut ties with the Premier League outfit later this year.
It would be a shame for him to leave the London Stadium if it is indeed the end of his time there but a move to the Football League would give him a better chance of getting regular first-team football.
His pathway into David Moyes’ starting XI is blocked by the abundance of senior attacking options that the club has at their disposal.
Fawunmi has risen up through the academy ranks of West Ham and has been a regular for them at various youth levels over recent times.
He has made 11 appearances in Premier League 2 this term and has chipped in with two goals and two assists for the Hammers’ Under-18s side.
QPR have a decision to make regarding whether to sign him and he could be a useful long-term addition for the Championship outfit.
In other West Ham news, a journalist has suggested there could now be “big” backlash from fans.
