Fabrizio Romano: Tomas Soucek deal now sealed at West Ham United after agreement initially struck in November

West Ham had an agreement over a new deal in place with midfielder Tomas Soucek since November, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian journalist tweeted on Monday (1 January) that the Czech Republic international has signed a new contract until 2027 at the London Stadium.

The news puts to bed any talk around the 28-year-old's future after he has been linked with a move away from the Hammers over the past couple of months.

This is a hugely positive development for West Ham as Soucek has committed himself to the club for the next three years.

The midfielder wasn't quite at his best in the opening few games of the season, but he has once again emerged as an extremely important player for David Moyes over the past couple of months.

It's that form, having scored eight goals during this campaign, that appears to have given the Hammers' hierarchy no other option than to secure his services for the coming years.

There were question marks around how the Czech would adapt to life without Declan Rice in the middle of the park this season, but he has now started to build up a solid partnership with summer arrivals Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse.

He will be looking to continue putting in impressive performances as we aim to finish as high up in the Premier League as possible this season and forge another successful campaign in Europe.
