Jean-Clair Todibo claim shot down by Fabrizio Romano in West Ham United transfer boost

Fabrizio Romano has debunked speculation that Jean-Clair Todibo isn’t interested in joining West Ham United this summer.

Writing in his Daily briefing on Friday (July 5), the journalist explained that the Hammers’ hesitation surrounding the defender is more about negotiations over price rather than a lack of interest in a move from the player’s side.

The update follows earlier reports suggesting Todibo may prefer a move to Manchester United due to their shared ownership connection with his current club Nice [Jonathan Johnson, 4 July].

Romano said: “I’m not aware that Jean-Clair Todibo wasn’t interested in a move to West Ham.

“I understand that the Hammers were never going to bid for him without guarantees on the player side, and though he was keen on the move the problem was on the price – which is still considered to be too high.

“The race for Todibo remains open, and there are several clubs interested.”

West Ham United might not be the destination for Jean-Clair Todibo

Todibo’s possible move to West Ham appears uncertain, based on the latest from Romano.

The journalist suggested that Todibo isn’t ruling out a move to the Premier League, but negotiations seem to be stuck on the transfer fee.

The Hammers’ interest also depends on meeting certain conditions set by Todibo’s camp, which is typical in these kinds of deals.

On top of that, with interest from other clubs, Todibo may not see East London as his top choice, especially with Manchester United also in the picture due to their ties with Nice.

This leaves Todibo with a big decision to make amid all the speculation.

Whether the Hammers can convince him to join remains to be seen, making his potential transfer to the London club a topic of big interest as the transfer window progresses.
