Fabrizio Romano shares update on West Ham United striker hunt in January
West Ham United are in the market for a striker this January but Fabrizio Romano reports that no concrete targets exist yet.
Writing in his Daily Briefing (9 December), the reliable transfer journalist reports that the club are looking at strikers in the market ahead of the window opening.
David Sullivan and Tim Steidten are said to be in conversation about targets but the club are taking their time to make a final decision, meaning there are no “concrete names” yet.

“I don’t have concrete names regarding transfers yet,” he wrote.
“For sure they are looking into the strikers market but at this stage it’s still early to mention the ‘correct’ name.
“West Ham are taking their time to decide and discuss internally. The chairman and the sporting director are looking for opportunities.”
Patience
It’s always good to be patient and if Jarrod Bowen’s good form continues in the centre-forward role then it shouldn’t be ruled out that David Moyes opts not to bring someone in.
Michail Antonio’s age is catching u to him and injuries are becoming an issue again, while Danny Ings and Divin Mubama are also at the club and Mohammed Kudus is also capable of filling in if needs be.

But rather than rushing to bring someone in during the January window like we did with Ings last year, considering how badly that has gone, it may be best to hold fire until the right man comes along.
There are plenty of options out there but there are no obvious ones who tick all the boxes, and that could definitely see that there would be concerns if they didn’t hit the ground running.
Notoriously January signings struggle initially, so it could be the best option to wait. Patience is a virtue and we shouldn’t sign someone just for the sake of it.
