Fabrizio Romano shares details of Luis Guilherme to West Ham United transfer, ‘dangerous’
West Ham United are in “very advanced” talks to sign Luis Guilherme, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Hammers are closing in on the signing of the Palmeiras forward, despite suggestions a Saudi club could hijack the move [Give Me Sport, 4 June].
Romano, speaking exclusively to Give Me Sport (4 June), has provided an update on the negotiations.
“Guilherme, the negotiation is very advanced. West Ham and Palmeiras are checking all the contracts and the documents,” he said.
“They are discussing the structure of the deal, how to activate the add-ons. There is a 20% sell-on clause, so it’s a complicated deal in terms of the structure, but they are advancing well.
“The negotiation is still going very well. Obviously, they want to get it signed, because they know it’s always dangerous in Brazil until the end. But at the moment, the negotiation is still ongoing.”
West Ham won’t relax until Luis Guilherme has arrived at London Stadium
No matter what Romano says, West Ham supporters won’t yet feel relaxed.
While a deal is apparently close to being agreed, supporters at London Stadium have already heard that same story from Brazil this summer.
Fabricio Bruno was supposedly on his way to East London until that transfer collapsed.
The Hammers will therefore feel anxious about history potentially repeating itself.
As a result, until contracts are signed and Guilherme is pictured in West Ham colours, apprehension will continue to surround the London Stadium.
After the way the last few weeks have gone, Tim Steidten finds himself under a lot of pressure.
He will not be keen to see another transfer fall apart on his watch, and the pressure is now on for him to deliver Guilherme to Julen Lopetegui.

The transfer window is not yet officially open, and there is still plenty of time to get deals done should it collapse.
However, having two players slip from West Ham’s grasp would not be an ideal start to life at the club for Lopetegui.
