Fabrizio Romano reacts to what he’s heard about West Ham United target Jhon Duran in last 24 hours

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Barcelona want Aston Villa striker Jhon Duran after West Ham tabled more than five bids for him over the summer window.

The transfer specialist suggested via his Daily Briefing on 27 September that rumours of interest in the Colombia international from the La Liga giants have not led to active negotiations.

Interest from Hansi Flick’s side comes after the Hammers’ pursuit of the 20-year-old in the last transfer window where the Villans rejected every proposal.

The Irons offered a fee in the region of £43million with a percentage of any future sale but Romano has suggested that “Villa always said no”.

Barcelona interested in West Ham target Jhon Duran

The striker has started the campaign in electric fashion which makes it no surprise that interest has piqued in teams across Europe.

The season started in frustrating circumstances when the Colombian scored on the opening day against the Hammers to secure all three points for Aston Villa.

This was sure to make Tim Steidten and Co. frustrated with themselves given the efforts they had put into signing him throughout the summer.

Duran has only made Julen Lopetegui regret this transfer miss even more by scoring five goals in his opening seven appearances, with just one of those being a start.

As a result, it now feels unlikely that the Irons will be able to sign the former Chicago Fire striker in the future.

This has only been made worse by Barcelona showing an interest with the 20-year-old likely to select the Spanish giants ahead of the London Stadium in the upcoming transfer windows.

In other West Ham news, David Sullivan has already made a Julen Lopetegui sack decision.
