A verbal agreement is in place between all parties involved, with Ferguson set to undergo his medical on Sunday afternoon as Graham Potter’s side look to make two further signings after the Irishman’s arrival [via Dharmesh Sheth, 2 February].

It is a straight loan deal, with Graham Potter’s side set to cover the striker’s entire salary.

This is a massive signing for Potter and West Ham.

The Hammers are in desperate need of a new striker having suffered greatly with injuries in that area of the pitch this season. Therefore, bringing Ferguson in seems like a no-brainer.

Although he is young, the 20-year-old has proven that he knows where the back of the net is in the Premier League. Therefore, with a consistent run of first-team football, he could discover his best form.

Potter was the man who gave Ferguson his debut in the Premier League. As a result, supporters will be hoping that the relationship between the two can help the forward settle in quickly at the London Stadium.

Some supporters might be frustrated that there isn’t any buy option included.

However, with little time left in the window, the Hammers just had to ensure they got a striker through the door, no matter what it took.

In other West Ham news, the club have offered a £35million package for a new striker.
