Fabrizio Romano details Lucas Paqueta update as Man City prepare new verbal approach to West Ham United
Manchester City are preparing a fresh bid for Lucas Paqueta after holding talks with West Ham about the midfielder, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Sky Sports Italy journalist tweeted on 10 August that the Premier League champions don’t want to “overpay” for the Brazilian international, but that they are preparing to make a new verbal approach.
He said players can be included in the deal as the Hammers are reportedly interested in signing Man City winger Cole Palmer to improve their attacking options.
Inevitability about it
There is a slight feeling of inevitability about Paqueta signing for Man City this summer as it’s been revealed he would be keen on a move to the Etihad Stadium.
West Ham need to hold firm, though, to make sure they receive the valuation they have placed on the midfielder – believed to be about £85million.
There is a lot the club can do with that money so you wouldn’t blame them if they were to take it to allow David Moyes to strengthen other areas of his squad.

The Palmer angle is interesting, as the 21-year-old is extremely talented and is highly thought of at Man City, so who knows how keen they would be on allowing him to leave.
With the season drawing closer and Paqueta likely to be in the plans for the trip to Bournemouth on 12 August, a swift resolution is needed to allow the club to move forwards, whether that is with or without him.
