Fabricio Bruno teammate reveals his ‘dream’ in West Ham United transfer twist

West Ham United’s bid to sign Fabricio Bruno is a “dream” for the defender, according to his Flamengo teammate Leo Ortiz.

The Hammers reached an agreement with the Brazilian outfit over a transfer fee for the centre-back, but he rejected the personal terms offered to him.

However, Ortiz insists that Bruno has previously expressed a desire to move on.

Speaking to Globo Esporte (29 May), he said: “I hope for [Bruno], that [the transfer is] for his own good.

“It’s a dream for him too, he’s already made that clear, he’s already expressed it. So we know that sometimes dreams don’t knock twice.

“I hope for his happiness. If it’s best for him, let him go. We’ll always be rooting for him if that happens.”

Is Fabricio Bruno playing hardball with West Ham United?

Bruno’s rejection of West Ham’s initial contract offer has been perceived by many as evidence of the Brazilian’s apathy at the prospect of moving to the London Stadium.

However, Ortiz’s comments suggest that it is possible the defender is simply negotiating in the hope of securing a more lucrative wage packet.

If that is the case, it seems the Hammers are taking a hard negotiating stance of their own, after reports emerged that they have walked away from the deal.

If both parties are truly committed to making a move happen, the situation will likely resolve itself.

The Hammers will either return, eventually, with an improved offer or Bruno will communicate a willingness to accept the initial terms offered to him.

But if West Ham were simply looking to make an opportunistic transfer at a cut-price fee, they may simply turn their attention elsewhere – and Bruno will have to wait for his “dream” to knock a second time.
