ExWHUemployee: West Ham United offered chance to sign Jason Denayer

West Ham United have been offered the chance to sign Belgium international Jason Denayer after his release from Ligue 1 side Lyon according to ExWHUemployee.

Ex has revealed via his Patreon on Tuesday 9 August that the Hammers could face competition for the former Manchester City man from Leicester City and Fulham.

It’s also understood that some clubs from Spain are also hot on the tail of the 27-year-old, who has previously worked with Moyes during his time at Sunderland.

Ex also suggested that Moyes wants to work on other options first, with the Belgium international not a priority at present.

Experienced option

The 27-year-old would be a ready-made option for the Hammers.

Denayer is in the prime of his career and is a regular feature for Belgium in their international set-up and has featured against England on numerous occasions.

Furthermore, no transfer fee would need to be forked out by West Ham, due to the defender currently not tied down to another club.

He can also play in a variety of positions including defensive midfield which would allow Moyes to perhaps focus on other more pressing areas of concern first.

However, Denayer is relatively small for a central defender, with the 27-year-old only six foot, which is certainly not the typical central defender that Moyes likes in his defence.

West Ham have tabled a bid for PSG defender Thilo Kehrer according to Dharmesh Sheth (via Twitter, 9 August) and he could well be an option that the club are pursuing over Denayer at present.

It is certainly going to be a hectic couple of weeks for the Hammers, with two to three problem areas of Moyes’ squad still to strengthen.
