ExWHUemployee: West Ham United could line up move to sign Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo

West Ham have “bids in” for numerous players as they seek at least two more additions before the summer transfer window closes, according to ExWHUemployee.

Writing on his Patreon account on Wednesday night (3 August), the reliable Hammers insider reported that the club is confident of more new signings and one of the players they could make a move for is Juventus and Brazil midfielder Arthur Melo.

It is understood that the Irons “could consider making a move for” the 25-year-old, who found himself in and out of Juventus’ starting line-up last season in Serie A.

Box-office addition

Arthur may have struggled at Juventus but this is a player who’s starred for both the Italian giants and Barcelona in his career while also being a regular for Brazil.

He has a lot to prove still but the ex-Gremio ace is someone who’s approaching the peak of his career and could really add some quality to West Ham’s midfield.

Arthur is mainly a deep-lying midfielder so he’d have plenty of competition for a spot in David Moyes’ starting line-up.

Moyes already has Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek and Flynn Downes who can play in that central or deeper midfield role but you’d imagine that Arthur would be able to move ahead of at least one of those in the pecking order.

It’s been a decent transfer window for the Hammers so far.

Not only have they kept hold of Rice and Jarrod Bowen at this stage of the summer but they’ve also added to the squad in areas that needed additions before the Premier League season kicks off this weekend.

But they cannot rest on their laurels yet – there’s still plenty of work to be done.

It’s great to see some ambition but we’d rather the remaining business gets done as soon as possible instead of being left until deadline day.
