ExWHUemployee shoots down Jesse Lingard to West Ham United transfer story as update emerges
ExWHUemployee has shot down a story by the Daily Mail after a claim emerged saying that Jesse Lingard was ready to join West Ham United on a free transfer.
The Daily Mail also reported in their print edition on Tuesday (5 July, page 69) that the Hammers were “likely” to beat Everton to the signing of the 29-year-old forward.
However, writing via his Patreon account later on Tuesday, reliable Irons insider ExWHUemployee rubbished that story after it caused a big reaction among fans on social media.

Writing on Patreon, Ex said: “This story has been verified by two sources, one at West Ham and one close to the player to be rubbish again!
“Talks are hoping to take place at the later end of the week but yet again another person has jumped the gun with the story.
“It is best to ignore this story until anything is confirmed as advancing. It seems to be causing a lot of meltdowns in the West Ham fan base. Journalists who are reliant on clicks to their website know that if you mention his name West Ham fans go crazy for it so it is an instant win for them.”

Oh, come on
How many twists and turns are we going to see regarding Lingard and West Ham?
It’s at the point where most fans are tired of the speculation and just want it all to go away.
Unfortunately, that might not be the case until Lingard signs officially for a new club because he’s always going to be linked with the Hammers.
David Moyes openly likes Lingard and there’s an obvious connection there as he spent the second half of the 2020/21 season on loan here in East London.
But, as Ex says, people love to jump the gun and would rather be first to the news than be a bit slower and be correct.
We probably are ahead of Everton in the race for a deal.
However, that’s down to their situation and is unlikely to be because our situation has improved in regards to getting a deal done for the now-former Manchester United attacker.
Do we want Lingard?
We wouldn’t mind him. He wouldn’t be a bad signing.
It’s just that Lingard is going to have to do a lot to apologise to West Ham fans who are still seething over his failure to join us permanently last year when he had the chance.
