ExWHUemployee: No ‘gentlemans agreement’ between West Ham United and Declan Rice
There is no “gentleman’s agreement” between Declan Rice and West Ham regarding a transfer in the summer of 2023, according to ExWHUemployee.
A report from talkSPORT on Monday July 11 claimed there was an agreement between club and player that he would be allowed to leave the London Stadium next summer, after agreeing to one more year with the Irons.
But responding to an article from The Sun which was sharing the claim, the club insider was adamant that no such agreement exists.
Writing on his personal Twitter account Ex simply said, “There is no ‘gentleman’s agreement'”.
Rice has got three years remaining on his contract with the club and has attracted interest from all of Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United this summer, but the club’s £100m+ valuation saw a deal never get off the ground.
Phew
TalkSPORT are usually pretty decent when it comes to West Ham news, so when they broke a story about an agreement many fans were a little bit worried.
But when Ex speaks, you listen, and if he says there is no agreement then that is the lay of the land and everyone can relax at this point.

The club are still trying to tie Rice down to a new contract, but that seems unlikely as interest ramps up and the player continues to perform at a level far greater than that of West Ham’s.
But until a club is able to stump up the cash for him, or his contract runs out in 2025, then he will be wearing the claret and blue shirt week in and week out.
He loves the club, we love him, and he’s worth every penny we’ve been demanding for him. He’s world class and he’s a Hammer and we must do all we can to keep him around.
