ExWHUemployee issues Konstantinos Mavropanos update amid West Ham United failed medical claims
The deal to take Konstantinos Mavropanos from VfB Stuttgart to West Ham is still on, according to ExWHUemployee.
The Hammers insider reported on his Patreon on 21 August that the finer details of the Greek defender’s switch to the Premier League “need sorting” and it isn’t being held up by issues with his medical.
But he did reveal that the 25-year-old is carrying a minor back injury and suggested the Irons could have mentioned this in their negotiations with the German club.

Not ideal
Although ExWHUemployee has revealed that the deal is still on, it’s not really very ideal that it’s taking this long to complete after it looked to be all but done in recent days.
If it’s just a minor back injury that Mavropanos is carrying, then it’s unlikely that would’ve been a major issue in his medical to lead to the club calling off the deal.
The West Ham hierarchy has been known to go back to the negotiating table on previous occasions after a player has undergone a medical to try and force the price down.

But if there isn’t too much wrong with the Greek defender, is it really worth putting the deal in jeopardy just to try and save a few million?
It just never feels like the club can complete a deal in a simple and efficient manner, there are always so many drawn-out negotiations and it’s frustrating when the squad is clearly short on depth at this moment in time.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers have made an approach to sign a Portuguese forward.
