Everything we know about West Ham's Armando Gonzalez pursuit as price tag details emerge
West Ham are understood to be interested in Guadalajara forward Armando Gonzalez.
The Hammers are keen to bring in attacking reinforcements to secure an immediate return to the Premier League.
With uncertainty over the futures of Jarrod Bowen, Crysencio Summerville and Valentin Castellanos, it is even more important to sort out new players.
West Ham reportedly already made contact over Gonzalez in the winter window.
It appears that they may try again for his services this summer, as they try to gain every possible advantage.
West Ham Zone runs the rule over the Mexican forward and his situation concerning an exit.
How much would Armando Gonzalez cost West Ham?
Chivas de Guadalajara may demand the full release clause to sell the 23-year-old, who is being pursued by the E20 side.
Rebano Pasion, a outlet dedicated to the Mexican side claim that the Hammers would need to pay £11.3million to secure the young striker, who notched 24 goals last season.
It states that the Irons will try to reduce the price to as little as they possibly can.
Gonzalez signed a contract extension in December 2025, which could keep him at his current side until 2029.
What has Gonzalez said about a transfer?
Gonzalez has already admitted that it is his dream to play in Europe one day.
Asked about a potential transfer to the likes of Celtic and West Ham, he said: “Yes, I would try, because it’s a dream [moving to Europe] I have. But if it doesn’t happen, it’s no big deal; I’ll keep working.
“And if it does happen, I’ll be very grateful. It all depends on staying focused on the day-to-day.”
He is clearly open to a transfer and the Hammers could take advantage, although his thoughts on playing in the Championship are not known.
Do Guadalajara want to sell the young forward?
Guadalajara manager Gabriel Milito confirmed that the club are not in a hurry to sell the striker.
Speaking after a 2-0 victory against Santos Laguna in March, he said: "Hormiga knows what he wants, he comes from a footballing family, and we try to instil that in him too. He has a mentality that always wants to give his all.
"I want him to have the humility to improve on aspects he needs to improve. I like his evolution as a player, that progress. I want him to be able to participate and do it well.
"If he can go to Europe, of course [he might decide to leave]. But I want him to stay. I hope he's not in a hurry to leave, because I'm not."
How did Gonzalez perform last season?
The Liga MX is split into two sections, the Apertura (opening) and Clausura (closing), and he performed brilliantly in both.
In fact, he had identical records in both parts of the campaign, with 17 starts in each.
He notched a total of 24 goals and two assists, split equally into 12 strikes and one set up in the two different brackets.
He clearly knows where the back of the net is, and the Hammers may well decide to take a gamble on him.
It could be a masterclass from the recruitment team, especially at the price tag that has been speculated.
