Everything we know about Tomas Soucek's current West Ham deal as new contract talks opened
West Ham were boosted in the summer by Tomas Soucek's intentions to remain at London Stadium.
The Czechia international, however, has been out injured since the World Cup, and was unable to partake in pre-season.
Good news is around the corner though, as the midfielder is inching closer to returning to action.
Soucek has featured in a West Ham friendly over the international break, as he begins to gain match fitness.
But as things stand, this will be the 31-year-old's final season at London Stadium.
However, news of the Hammers trying to change that outcome has now emerged.
What we know about West Ham and Tomas Soucek's contract talks
As stated Soucek's current deal expires at the end of the 2026-27 season.
This means in January, the midfielder will be allowed to sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside of England.
The midfielder is a fan favourite, and the Irons fanbase will be disappointed whenever he does depart.
But, it does look like it may not be as soon as this season.
According to Claret and Hugh, sources close to West Ham have reported that discussions are underway over a new contract.
With Soucek wanting to stay as he "loves" West Ham.
The Hammers are looking to secure their return to the Premier League this season, and Soucek will certainly be a huge help.
And if they can achieve their goal, it seems he has not played his last top-flight game for the E20 outfit.
How much is Soucek earning at West Ham?
Soucek is one of West Ham's top earners; in fact, the Czech international was in the top five last season, according to Capology.
At the time, Soucek was reported to be earning £90,000 per week, but that has since changed due to relegation.
The Hammers had the foresight to include relegation clauses in their player's deals, meaning they now earn half of their original wages.
Now, the football finances and salaries website states the midfielder is on £45,000 - still quite a sizable sum in the Championship.
And that will only add further pressure on the 31-year-old to begin delivering.
Either way, West Ham getting a return from one of their most veteran players will be crucial, and with the added bounce of a new deal, Soucek would have all the more reason to push for a future season in England's top division.
