Everything we know about Adama Traore’s contract situation after Nuno comments

Adama Traore joined West Ham from Fulham in January to link up with Nuno Espirito Santo again.

The Spaniard spent three years at Craven Cottage and was largely a bit-part player under Marco Silva in recent months.

His pace and physicality became a useful weapon off the bench, but his minutes had continued to fall away this campaign.

That prompted Nuno to reunite with the 30-year-old after a productive spell when both were at Wolves during a high point for the Old Gold.

Adama is now at West Ham and has been warned about his training regime, so West Ham Zone have assessed his contract situation at the London Stadium.

What did Nuno Espirito Santo say about Adama Traore?

The winger is famed for his physique and the way that he is able to play as a result.

The former Barcelona man has pace to burn while also being able to hold off opponents with his natural strength.

He has always suggested that he doesn’t lift weights in the gym, but footage emerged this week of him doing exactly that on Crysencio Summerville’s social media.

That seemingly caught the attention of Nuno, who has since revealed that he doesn’t want the forward in the gym anymore.

He said: “It’s incredible (his muscles), it’s genetics. His genetics have been like this for some time now, and he should avoid the gym. I’ve told him to stay out of the gym.

“It’s one of the things that I think he needs to realise. It’s enough weight that he carries. He’ll do prevention work (in the gym), but he’s not in there lifting weights.”

That may be a fair comment to make, but it would be interesting to see what the 30-year-old makes of that in East London.

What is Adama’s contract situation at West Ham?

The ex-Aston Villa man may have only joined the Hammers in the summer, but he still faces his contract expiry at the end of the season.

He penned a short-term deal at the London Stadium in January, so he will become a free agent in the summer regardless of what happens in E20.

Adama has secured himself a weekly wage of £70,000 in claret and blue, something which equates to around £1.6million for his six-month stint.

There will be a decision to be made surrounding his future when the campaign ends, with fresh terms needing to be agreed.

He could stay at West Ham or could find himself moving elsewhere, but the final decision ultimately rests in his own hands.
