Everton could hijack West Ham United bid to sign Carlos Soler, approach made
Everton could be set to hijack a West Ham deal to sign Carlos Soler from PSG, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Sky Sports journalist reported on 22 August that the Toffees are exploring a deal to sign the former Spain international after making contact with the Ligue 1 giants.
The Hammers are still interested in the 27-year-old and are “planning the next steps” in their approach which will last until deadline day.
Everton could hijack West Ham deal for Carlos Soler
Julen Lopetegui has spent the summer transfer window adding to his new side with plenty of signings at the London Stadium.
These deals have been done mainly to improve the backline but now a move to add to the midfield looks likely through Soler.
The Spaniard would likely fit into what the new head coach wants to do and approach games in East London.
The question comes when the options that are already at the club in the middle of the pitch and whether the PSG man is better.
Tomas Soucek has been linked with a move away but with his profile being so unique and important to the Hammers, this could prove to be a mistake.
These players are very different with Soler offering plenty of creativity from the midfield and has plenty of pedigree from his time with Sevilla.
If Everton are to hijack a deal, it wouldn’t be the end of the world but it would likely frustrate Lopetegui and Co.
