Evan Ferguson transfer: Advanced talks at West Ham United in fresh update

West Ham United are in advanced talks with Brighton for Evan Ferguson in the winter transfer window, according to Ben Jacobs.

The GiveMeSport journalist has revealed on his personal X account (31 January) that the Hammers have progressed in discussions with the Seagulls for the Irish striker.

Ferguson remains the top target for the Hammers to bolster their attack ahead of the 3 February deadline.

Evan Ferguson set for West Ham United transfer from Brighton?

Ferguson was seen as one of the most promising prospects in the Premier League a few seasons back but has seen his prospects fall.

In the current campaign, the 20-year-old has struggled for game time at the Amex Stadium, and a move could eventually revive his career.

Graham Potter seems to be the best manager for bringing the best out of the Irishman, as he gave the striker his debut at Brighton.

The former Brighton boss took charge of the Irons after an abysmal period under Julen Lopetegui saw the team deteriorate.

West Ham are seemingly lucky to have the English manager on their side during negotiations for the young centre-forward.

The London Stadium faithful hope Potter’s presence will convince Ferguson to move to the Hammers in the coming days.

It seems evident that the Irons need to bolster their number nine position, as Niclas Fullkrug and Michail Antonio are unavailable.

While the update on the 20-year-old is positive, it remains to be seen whether any potential move will be temporary or permanent.

In other West Ham news, a last-gasp decision has been made regarding the transfer of Mohammed Kudus.
