Evan Ferguson move to West Ham could be sanctioned after Brighton match

West Ham United could sign Evan Ferguson after Brighton face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday, according to ExWHUEmployee.

The Hammers’ insider has revealed that the Seagulls may sanction a move after their visit to the City Ground on 1 February.

The Irishman remains the Irons’ number one target, as all options have been discussed over a transfer in the coming days.

ExWHUEmployee disclosed on The West Ham Way Patreon (31 January): “Ferguson remains the number one target for the club as the deadline approaches. All options for the deal have been discussed including a permanent transfer, loan with obligation, loan with option and a straight loan.

“There is increasing optimism from within the club that we can get the Ferguson deal done with Graham Potter being a key factor in his decision-making process. Talks continue with hope of a resolution but it is thought Brighton may wish to sanction any deal after their weekend fixture.”

West Ham United in desperate need of Evan Ferguson transfer

The East London club evidently desperately need to sign attacking reinforcements in the ongoing transfer window.

Niclas Fullkrug is once again on the sidelines after picking up another injury, with Michail Antonio also out of action after his car accident.

Graham Potter has also been unable to count on Jarrod Bowen due to his fitness issues, leading to experiments from the manager in the number nine position.

Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus have been deployed as centre-forwards in recent West Ham matches, and the Brazilian ace has done especially well in that position.

While the 27-year-old looks comfortable in the role, the Hammers seemingly need a natural striker to have the best chance of converting their chances.

Ferguson has not been at his best this season, but Potter is familiar with the 20-year-old’s potential, having handed the striker his debut at Brighton.

The Irons will need to be quick in order to seal a potential deal with only a few days remaining before the deadline.
