Evan Ferguson is perfect for West Ham as new transfer lined up
Evan Ferguson should join West Ham United in the upcoming transfer window, Dean Jones says.
The 20-year-old has been identified as a top target by the Hammers ahead of January [TEAMtalk, 16 December], and the Irishman has been classed as “perfect” for the Irons.
Michail Antonio is set to be sidelined for the foreseeable future after his road traffic accident, and the Brighton forward is now available on loan next month to fill that gap.
Speaking on the Ranks FC podcast [18 December], Jones said: “The player that I’ve put in here who I think represents a mild transfer gamble that’s worth the punt is Evan Ferguson. I think he’s perfect for West Ham, and I think they might try and do it.
“He’s available on loan from Brighton in the second half of the season. The Hammers have a limited budget. At the moment, Ferguson, when you’re looking at links, it’s looking like Leicester or Everton or Southampton. Go to West Ham.
“Ferguson, I think, is tailor-made for the job that they’ve got in the second half of the season, and it won’t surprise me if this one actually ends up coming true.”

Ferguson is one of the most significant prospects in the Premier League after impressing at the Amex over the years.
The Ireland international was pivotal for the Seagulls under Roberto De Zerbi but has found game time hard to come by since Fabian Hurzeler’s arrival.
In the 2024/25 campaign, the 20-year-old has started in the English top flight just twice, with Joao Pedro and Danny Welbeck ahead of him in the pecking order.
West Ham haven’t been able to rely on Niclas Fullkrug since his move from Borussia Dortmund in the summer due to his fitness issues, and Jarrod Bowen has had to lead the attack in recent weeks.
Antonio was a regular member of Julen Lopetegui’s plans, and in his absence, the Spanish manager has a dilemma in the number nine position.
Ferguson hasn’t lit up the Premier League in the current campaign, but the London Stadium could be where the striker rekindles his form.
