Emerson closer to West Ham United exit as transfer update emerges
Emerson now surely has one foot out of the West Ham United door after the latest transfer rumours emerged.
The 29-year-old has been a Hammers player since he arrived at the start of the 2022/23 season, and has become a regular.
Although Emerson has been a fairly solid addition to the West Ham ranks, recently it has seemed that the Italian has had his heart set on a move elsewhere.
The likes of Inter Milan and Roma have been reported as two potential suitors [Leggo, 4 June] for the defender this summer with a return to his home country becoming more and more likely.
Although Julen Lopetegui has Aaron Cresswell as a backup option to Emerson, the Englishman is now 34 years old and only played in 11 Premier League matches last term.
This likely means that should the Italian leave the London Stadium this term, a replacement will be needed imminently.
That’s where Sergio Reguilon comes in. The Spaniard has been in and around the top flight since his arrival from Real Madrid to Tottenham in the 2022/23 season and has recently been linked with a move to the London Stadium [AS, 3 July].
Why Sergio Reguilon would be an ideal coup for West Ham United
As aforementioned, the defender has a vast array of experience in the top flight, playing 77 Premier League games during his England tenure.
Although he failed to hit the ground running during his loan move to Manchester United, whilst at Brentford, he made a strong name for himself.

Although he failed to score, he managed four assists in 16 games and was among the London-based club’s top performers in the second half of the season.
Although Reguilon’s career has seemingly been a bit hit and miss whilst in England his recent form showcases that there’s still a strong player there.
His addition would likely be invaluable to Julen Loepetgui’s men and perhaps even add another attacking threat to the squad.
