El Hadji Malick Diouf exit 'imminent' as Brentford offer revealed for West Ham
El Hadji Malick Diouf's West Ham future is up in the air with Brentford keen suitors.
The Senegalese fullback emerged last season as one of the Hammers' top players, and they could be in line to make a significant profit just one year later.
Diouf was signed for a reported initial fee of £19million and is now being eyed in a deal for more than double that total.
Brentford have not been the only team looking to sign Diouf, but they do appear to be the front-runners this summer window.
Nuno Espirito Santo will not want to lose a player of the left-back's quality, but if a strong offer does come in, it could be hard to refuse.
And we could be seeing that reality play out amid reports out of Senegal.
How El Hadji Malick Diouf feels about West Ham exit
English sources have suggested in the last week that Brentford were preparing an offer for Diouf.
Now, it seems that bid has been submitted based on reports out of Diouf's home country.
According to Senegalese outlet, WIW Sport, Diouf's exit to Brentford is "imminent" with the Hammers set to receive around £40m.
The deal is split into guaranteed fees and add-ons, with £35m the initial money the Irons will receive with £5m in bonuses.
The information shared by the outlet suggests that it is only the the last few details currently being ironed out.
Diouf is open to making the move across London to join the Bees this summer.
These reports would back up previous Senegalese claims that a deal for Diouf could be found for £40m.
Can West Ham cope without Diouf?
In the opening Championship game of the season, Diouf was relegated to the bench for the Hammers.
Instead, it was Ollie Scarles who took up the space at left-back.
For large parts of the game, Scarles looked to be quite active in the opposition half as the Irons pushed up the field.
However, it was the 20-year-old who ultimately gave away the penalty leading to Burnley completing the comeback from 2-0 down.
If Diouf does leave, Scarles is capable of starting for the Hammers, but the West Ham academy graduate will need competition.
While they may be able to cope without Diouf, they would not be able to deal with the squad depth issues he leaves behind.
