Edvin Austbo's West Ham contract examined: Wages, duration and amortisation

Edvin Austbo has had a bright start to life at West Ham United.

The 21-year-old emerged as a target quite late on in the summer transfer window.

A move was wrapped up in a quick fashion, especially when compared to some of the other business conducted in E20.

That is seemingly proof of how highly the Hammers rated his spell at Viking.

The Norwegian came in for £11million and is already looking to repay that fee.

Austbo has had a productive start at the London Stadium as we now assess what we know about his West Ham contract.

What is Edvin Austbo's West Ham wage?

The claret and blue faithful wouldn't have been blamed for not knowing much about the winger.

That won't be a surprise given he had been featuring in his native Norway for his whole senior career.

His performances in the past two years certainly caught the eye as he contributed to 17 goals and assists.

The Eliteserien side now find themselves in the Champions League, while Austbo has moved to the Championship.

That transfer came for a sizable fee and also features a fair wage.

Valuball reports that West Ham are paying the attacker £50,000-a-week as part of a contract running until 2031.

That equates to a yearly salary of £2.6m, helping to clock up the yearly cost at the London Stadium.

How much are West Ham paying for Austbo per year?

He already has a goal and assist in claret and blue, so he looks to be value for money at this stage.

The Norwegian obviously needs to keep that up if he is to prove his worth.

That is largely due to the amortisation fee that West Ham are paying for him and will do across the course of his five-year deal.

The initial sum is said to be £3.7m for the 2026-27 season; a figure which will reportedly rise to £4.5m until the end of the 2030-31 campaign.

That is unless he is afforded a new deal at the London Stadium before the end of this one, which will see that fee rise.

It will certainly be interesting to see if Austbo proves to be worth that price throughout his East London career.
