Door open for Issa Diop to seal West Ham United exit

West Ham defender Issa Diop could be heading for the exit after a turnaround in his situation, as reported by Foot Mercato.

The website reported on 25 July that Diop’s situation has changed again. David Moyes was reluctant to let him go, but the French defender is now back on the market again.

Fulham have already offered £14.4 million, and there’s already an agreement in place. However, the Hammers are now demanding a fee of around £15 million and £3m in bonuses.

Foot Mercato didn’t mention whether Fulham would be willing to sell the defender, but they add that West Ham are waiting for an offer for the Frenchman.

Dilemma

David Moyes should be in dilemma whether to offload Diop now, especially after the injury to Nayef Aguerd.

When Aguerd was signed, it became clear that Diop would drop down the pecking order at the club. Therefore, a move away from the London stadium looked likely.

He was inconsistent with his performance last season, and failed to stake his claim in the side, even when Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna got injured.

However, Aguerd’s injury in pre-season could force Moyes into making a bold call on the player’s future.

The Hammers have confirmed that Aguerd has had successful surgery on the ankle injury he picked up in the pre-season friendly against Rangers.

Having said that, it seems Moyes is still prepared to sell him. Probably it indicates that Aguerd could return from his injury very soon. Or Moyes could change his decision as well.
