Donyell Malen offered as West Ham ready brand new transfer

West Ham United are one of several “prominent” sides offered the chance to sign Donyell Malen from Borussia Dortmund this month, according to TBR Football.

The online source reports that amid interest from Aston Villa, Malen has been offered to the Hammers, Bournemouth, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest having fallen out of favour at the Bundesliga club.

A price tag of £25million has been set for Malen, who is under contract until 2026 but on the fringes at Dortmund, who are open to letting the 25-year-old Dutch international leave in January.

The Irons bought £27m striker Niclas Fullkrug from Dortmund just last summer, but could now re-enter negotiations with the Black Yellows if Malen is to head for the exit door this month.

Although the Hammers have struggled in front of goal this season – although not near as much as they have at the other end – few would contest that in terms of wide options, they are stacked with quality.

With Crysencio Summerville, Lucas Paqueta, Mohammed Kudus, Luis Guilherme and talismanic skipper Jarrod Bowen all options on the flanks, Julen Lopetegui has an embarrassment of riches at his disposal.

Out-and-out centre-forwards are a wholly different prospect in East London, but given the expensive failure Fullkrug has been thus far, the Irons may be hesitant to do business with Dortmund again.

Unless one of their key attackers left in January – Kudus being the most likely candidate – it’s unlikely that Lopetegui would look to strengthen in this area, given others are in much greater need of attention.

The Spaniard’s midfield and defensive lines have been ripped open on far too regular a basis so far this term, and as a result, signing Malen ahead of reinforcements in these areas would be a head-scratcher.
