Done Deal: West Ham United announce another exit as Gideon Kodua leaves on loan
West Ham have announced yet another exit as Gideon Kodua has joined Wycombe Wanderers on loan.
The Hammers confirmed the 19-year-old forward’s temporary departure from the London Stadium on Friday (12 January) as he links up with the League One side until the end of the season.
It comes after fellow Irons academy product Conor Coventry was allowed to make a permanent switch to League One side Charlton Athletic on Friday after seeing his opportunities limited in East London.
Makes sense
This is a deal that makes complete sense for West Ham as it allows a highly-regarded talent to go out on loan and gain some valuable experience.
The forward has been in fine form for the Hammers’ U-21s side this season after scoring seven goals in his 12 appearances.
One of those strikes ironically came against Wycombe in the EFL Trophy on Tuesday (9 January), where the young Irons suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat at Adams Park.
The move will see Kodua link up with fellow academy product Freddie Potts, who has put in some promising performances on loan with the League One club this season.

While he’s clearly been doing well and progressing in the development squad, the chance to go out on loan and experience the nature of a first-team environment should stand him in good stead moving forward.
The teenager will be hoping to have a brighter future at the London Stadium than his former teammate Coventry, with the 23-year-old midfielder limited to just 10 senior appearances before making the switch to Charlton.
