Dominic Calvert-Lewin transfer on cards at West Ham as Everton exit nears

West Ham United are keeping tabs on Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s situation at Everton, according to TEAMtalk.

The outlet reported via their website on 24 December that Newcastle are also monitoring the striker’s situation at Goodison Park closely, while Serie A clubs are also in the mix.

Calvert-Lewin, who was also linked with the Irons last summer, is increasingly likely to leave Merseyside when his contract expires at the end of the season, although the Toffees remain hopeful of tying him down to a new deal.

The East London outfit have three senior centre-forwards in their ranks – Niclas Fullkrug, Michail Antonio Danny Ings. All of them are in their 30s.

Antonio, meanwhile, has been sidelined for an extended period of time after his unfortunate road traffic accident, while Julen Lopetegui does not favour Ings.

The Hammers shelled out £27million to sign Fullkrug from Borussia Dortmund in the summer [BBC], but he has struggled to settle in at the London Stadium.

Fitness issues have restricted the Germany international to just 239 minutes of playing time across all competitions this term. He only has one goal to show for it as well.

Therefore, it would not be a surprise if Lopetegui demanded a new signing as early as the January transfer window.

West Ham have been linked with several strikers, including Mainz’s Jonathan Burkardt [TBR Football], but Calvert-Lewin’s Premier League experience may prove to be attractive.

However, it remains to be seen if Everton are prepared to sell the Englishman to a league rival midway through the season.

The Irons may thus have to wait until the end of the season to sign him.

In other West Ham news, this Irons ace is wanted as a “luxury” signing by a foreign club in January.
