Dharmesh Sheth provides transfer update as West Ham advance talks for £15m Ibrahim Osman January deal

West Ham have advanced talks over a deal for Nordsjælland forward Ibrahim Osman, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

The Sky Sports reporter posted on X on Wednesday (24 January) to say that the Hammers will pay a fee of around £15million for 19-year-old Ghanaian.

Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg had earlier posted on X to say an opening offer had been turned down: “West Ham’s initial bid for Ibrahim Osman was turned down.

“Remains to be seen if there’s a compromise on price. Winger is highly rated by recruitment team.”

However, Sheth wrote: “Talks advancing between West Ham United and Nordsjaelland over the signing of winger Ibrahim Osman. Fee understood to be in the region of £15m.”

Looking likely

There is a fair bit of excitement involved with this deal, not least because Osman has graduated from the same academy as Mohammed Kudus, who we all know has been an exceptional signing for the Hammers this season.

Of course, there is also an element of the unknown involved with the 19-year-old and this signing might be more one for the future than someone who can come in and make an immediate impact.

But if the fee of around £15m is indeed correct then it could be an excellent piece of business from the club, not least because of the potential resale value if he seriously impresses.

With Kalvin Phillips also extremely close to joining, this transfer window has really heated up for West Ham in the past few days, let’s hope it can have an impact on the pitch and help them finish as high as possible in the Premier League.

In other West Ham news, Fabrizio Romano has shared when Phillips is likely to complete his move.
