Dharmesh Sheth: West Ham United want to sign six new players as talks held over Armando Broja

David Moyes wants six new players at West Ham this summer with talks underway over a deal for Chelsea striker Armando Broja, according to Sky Sports News journalist Dharmesh Sheth.

Speaking in a video clip on Sky Sports’ Transfer Centre on Sunday (26 June, 01:58pm), Sheth said that Broja, 20, is one of a number of players the Irons want to sign this summer.

It is understood that Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel will wait and see if he wants to let the Albania international leave Stamford Bridge.

But on top of him, Moyes will look to secure further additions at the London Stadium.

“They are interested in the Chelsea striker Armando Broja,” said Sheth.

“Talks are continuing with Chelsea over the potential signing of Broja but one source claims that Thomas Tuchel actually wants to look at Broja in pre-season before making a final decision on his future.

“And if you think about it, that would probably make sense.

“Romelu Lukaku is on his way, after not the best season for him back at Chelsea, on loan to Inter Milan so I think Thomas Tuchel will want to look at all the strikers he’ll have available. Broja is one of them.

“If he’s impressed by Broja in pre-season, then you never know, he could still feature for Chelsea.

“But West Ham are more than keeping an eye on that situation.”

Sheth added: “Overall, West Ham look like they will be going for it in this transfer window.

“David Moyes, we’re told, wants at least six new players in this transfer window.”

Big summer

We can count one deal as being done already with Nayef Aguerd joining West Ham from Rennes.

The Morocco centre-back should be a very good addition to Moyes’ back-line, which definitely needed some extra strength.

Alphonse Areola is also set to join from Paris Saint-Germain with the goalkeeper joining permanently after a successful loan spell at the London club last season [Fabrizio Romano].

That’ll be two signings done and dusted so either Moyes is looking for four more additions on top of that or whether he wants another six isn’t clear.

But one position that cannot be ignored this summer is the striker area.

Broja did well on loan at Southampton last season, scoring nine goals in 38 appearances across all competitions.

He’s only 20 years old but already has a good amount of Premier League experience to his name, as well as 14 caps for the Albanian national team.

We’ll definitely be pleased if we sign him and then three more new additions would be great.
