Desperate West Ham United January transfer news drops as David Moyes faces crisis

David Moyes is now desperately seeking January transfer signings as West Ham face a mounting injury crisis in attack in recent weeks, according to The Standard.

The newspaper reported on 10 January that injuries to Jarrod Bowen and Lucas Paqueta, suffered in the FA Cup draw with Bristol City, as well as Michail Antonio’s struggles, have forced the Hammers to turn to the market.

Moyes will be missing his entire first-choice attack for what is likely to be a full month, with Mohammed Kudus away at the African Cup of Nations, and reinforcements will be required with Danny Ings and Said Benrahma still up for sale.

Reinforcements are needed ASAP

The injuries at West Ham have come both at the worst and best possible time. You never want to be missing all three of your first-choice attackers but with the January transfer window open, the Hammers will have the opportunity to bring in reinforcements.

If the crisis had begun only a month later in February, they would have been stuck with their injured players missing and no immediate replacements available to be brought in.

However, with no deals close as things stand, there is a growing desperation to get new players over the line, particularly as the East London club are still keen on selling depth players including Benrahma, Ings and Fornals.

Not even two weeks have passed in the transfer window, but the situation at West Ham is already beginning to feel tense. The closer we edge towards deadline day, perhaps it will be the fringe players that end up staying as they cannot afford to let them leave in the crisis.

In other West Ham news, David Sullivan, Tim Steidten and Moyes are looking everywhere for new deals.
