Declan Rice spotted with striker who West Ham really want to sign in January

West Ham could bring a striker back to the Premier League in January.

West Ham are in turmoil this season, and unless they avoid defeat when they face Man United on Thursday, they will find themselves three points away from safety, 14 games into the campaign.

The Irons have been poor in all departments, but their main concerns have certainly been in attack, with Callum Wilson the only striker who seems somewhat capable of scoring goals.

It’s crucial that they bring someone in to rectify that, and one of the players linked with a move to the London Stadium has since been spotted alongside Declan Rice.

West Ham want to bring Ivan Toney back to the Premier League

Ivan Toney was linked with West Ham in November, with signs pointing towards a possible exit from Saudi Arabia in January.

Since joining Al Ahli last summer, Toney has scored 42 goals in 62 appearances, continuing his impressive form from Brentford, where he scored 22 in his last full season.

With Niclas Fullkrug seemingly on his way out of West Ham, and Wilson out of contract in the summer, the Hammers simply have no choice other than to recruit a striker in January, and given Toney‘s experience in the Premier League, he would be an ideal candidate.

On Wednesday, he was spotted alongside former Irons midfielder Rice, who shared a photo of the two of them on his Instagram story.

The caption reads: “Good to see you, my brother,” having previously spent time together playing for England.

Ivan Toney deal would benefit both parties

Not only would West Ham be getting a serial goalscorer with Toney, but he would also be getting a move to a club where his chances of playing in the World Cup would increase.

Thomas Tuchel values Premier League football, and for Toney to be back playing in it would give him a much better chance of making the squad in the summer.

He still has the goalscoring ability to thrive at this level, and aside from Harry Kane, England are short on striker options to take to the competition.

Any deal wouldn’t be cheap, but given how much of a necessity a striker will be for West Ham in January, it’s a price worth paying.
