Deadline day medical scheduled for Emerson Palmieri to quit West Ham

Emerson Palmieri is finally set to leave West Ham United on deadline day.

Emerson is set to join Marseille on Monday for £865,600 after three seasons at the London Stadium, having fallen out of the starting 11 at the start of the season.

El Hadji Malick Diouf’s signing from Slavia Prague has made Emerson surplus to requirements in East London, and the defender is set to end his spell in England with a move to the French giants.

Marseille are facing a race against the clock to get deals for both Emerson and Nayef Aguerd done before the deadline, and medical details have been released in regards to the Italian.

Emerson Palmieri to have medical this morning ahead of move to Marseille

Marseille have begun a late raid on West Ham’s deadwood, with Emerson being the first piece to fall.

Sky Sports have confirmed that Emerson is scheduled to undergo his medical this morning ahead of his move, following the clubs’ agreement on a fee.

Fabrizio Romano revealed on Sunday that a deal had been agreed to send Emerson to the former European Champions, just three years after moving from Chelsea for £15million.

Aguerd’s medical is also scheduled for today, in a deal that will see West Ham earn £19.9m, which is considered great business considering how bad the Morrocan was at the London Stadium.

El Hadji Malick Diouf is a significant upgrade on Emerson Palmieri

Emerson has undoubtedly been a flop since arriving from Stamford Bridge, as he has not brought his quality on both ends of the pitch, which has seen the Hammers slide down the table.

Diouf, meanwhile, has been a bright spark in a dismal Hammers start, grabbing an assist in West Ham’s 3-0 victory at Nottingham Forest on Sunday.

West Ham may still be a mess at the moment, and still need to conclude multiple deals to get back on track, but their left-back situation is no longer a concern.
