David Sullivan to push emergency button as West Ham bid planned for LaLiga star
West Ham United are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements to maintain their Premier League status.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s job is in increasing doubt after the East London side were beaten 2-1 by Nottingham Forest at the London Stadium on Tuesday night.
Murillo headed into his own net to give the Hammers the lead, and Crysencio Summerville thought he had added a second just five minutes after half-time, but it was ruled out by VAR.
Instead, Forest came from behind with goals from Nicolas Dominguez and Morgan Gibbs-White, once again highlighting West Ham’s frailties at the back.
West Ham in race for Oscar Mingueza
West Ham have been linked with Celta Vigo right-back Oscar Mingueza in recent weeks, with Nuno eager to make improvements in defensive areas.
The 26-year-old came through the Barcelona academy before joining Celta in 2022, and has made 15 La Liga appearances this season, picking up three goal contributions.
According to Caught Offside, West Ham have been tracking Mingueza for months and are now ready to make a move for the Spanish defender.
The Hammers see him as a reliable option who would be able to contribute immediately to their Premier League survival bid.
However, the likes of Aston Villa and Newcastle United are also in the race for Mingueza, which means the East London side will have to work hard to secure his signature.

Oscar Mingueza won’t save Nuno Espirito Santo
Even if Mingueza does make the move to the London Stadium in January, Nuno is surely set for the sack at West Ham.
After defeat to Forest, the Hammers are now seven points adrift of safety in the Premier League and staring down the barrel of relegation to the Championship.
The East London side have only managed three wins all season, and have now failed to pick up three points in each of their last 10 games.
Nuno has not improved the situation since his arrival, with supporters already firmly against the former Nottingham Forest and Tottenham boss.
The 51-year-old is now as close as he has ever been to dismissal at the London Stadium.
