David Moyes wants last-minute West Ham United deal to sign new striker as three names mentioned by Sky journalist

West Ham are in the market for a new forward and are tracking three Brazilians as the transfer deadline edges closer, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The Sky Sports Germany journalist tweeted on 29 August that the Hammers’ technical director Tim Steidten is in Brazil as he looks to land a deal for one of the attackers.

He said the German negotiator is looking to bring in a hard-working new number nine for David Moyes, with the Irons boss keen to strengthen his forward line with a last-minute piece of business.

Options open

It’s a positive step to see that West Ham are keeping their options firmly open over who they want to bring as three targets are being monitored with just a few days left of the window.

That means they can quickly move on to one of their other targets if they are unable to bring in whichever player is currently top of their list.

The standout candidate appears to be Pedro, who has scored 94 goals and laid on 23 assists in 197 appearances for Flamengo, while the 26-year-old has also earned six caps for Brazil after making their World Cup squad last year.

The 22-year-old Alberto also earned his first national team call-up earlier this year after scoring 21 goals and laying on nine assists during his 73 games for Corinthians.

West Ham

The final candidate is Leonardo after the Hammers have been impressed by the 20-year-old’s 49 goals for Santos at such a young age, having already made 152 appearances for the Brasileiro Serie A side.

It’s hard to call which forward we will eventually go for, but with Pedro’s experience at club level and given his impressive goal rate, he could be the most exciting player to go after.
